How to Search Criminal Dockets
First confirm the case belongs to Wilkinson County in the Sixth Circuit District. The official online route is Mississippi Electronic Courts, or MEC. PAMEC reaches it for non-restricted records. Mississippi offers no free, no-login index of Wilkinson party names or case numbers. CourtInfo tells you which court participates in MEC; it does not return case results.
A case number is the best locator. Without one, give the clerk the defendant name and the rough filing year. Add the court and the case type. A lower-court match may later become a Circuit case through bind-over or appeal. Ask for the docket sheet, a named order, or a certified copy rather than a whole file.
- Identify the court that handled the charge, preliminary proceeding, or appeal.
- Use the official MEC/PAMEC route for eligible remote access, or contact the proper clerk.
- Search with the full case number when known and confirm the county before relying on a result.
- Read the docket events in date order, including settings, filings, and any disposition entry.
- Ask the clerk for a copy or certification when the actual order is needed.
Wilkinson Criminal Docket MEC Access
The Sixth Circuit MEC CourtInfo page lists Wilkinson Circuit Court within the district system. PAMEC remote access is registered, paid, and read-only for non-restricted case information. The published non-attorney terms set a $10 annual registration charge. Usage costs $0.20 per page, and a search with no match still carries a one-page charge. Registering does not authorize a user to e-file.
The courthouse route works differently. MEC procedures allow free electronic viewing of MEC-filed civil and criminal documents at the courthouse or clerk office during regular hours. Copies still carry statutory fees. When a remote result is missing or unclear, the Circuit Clerk can say whether the court, year, restriction, or legacy status affects access. A blank remote result does not mean no Wilkinson criminal docket exists.
Access point: PAMEC is a remote reading service for eligible records. MEC e-filing is a separate function used by authorized filers.
Wilkinson Criminal Dockets in Sixth Circuit
Wilkinson County shares the Sixth Circuit Court District with Adams, Amite, and Franklin Counties. That is why court-system materials and annual term schedules carry a district name. The case may still sit in Wilkinson County. Always confirm the county shown on a docket. Do this before treating a district-system result as the right case. Circuit Court serves as the general criminal trial and jury route. The local Circuit Clerk remains Wilkinson's filing and records contact.
What a Criminal Docket Shows
A Wilkinson County criminal docket is a dated record of case activity. Entries may include a case number, charge description, filings, and hearing settings. Plea activity, orders, and a disposition may appear too. An entry can be shorter than the document behind it. Restricted material may not show at all. For the final result of a charge, rely on the official order.
| Case number | The court's unique identifier. Keep the full number exactly as shown in MEC or by the clerk, such as 2025-CR-00001. |
|---|---|
| Charge or filing | The accusation or case filing. It is not, by itself, a finding of guilt. |
| Setting | A scheduled court event, such as arraignment, motion hearing, plea, or trial. Confirm it with the clerk. |
| Order or disposition | The docket's result entry or linked order. Read the actual order before treating a status as final. |
| Access status | A restriction, seal, or expungement indicator that can limit what a public user can view. |
A filing date marks when the court accepted a paper or electronic filing. It is not necessarily the date of the event alleged in the case.
Wilkinson Criminal Docket Status Terms
The Sixth Circuit MEC vocabulary relies on short flags that need context. A flag can mark a workflow, a pending matter, or an access boundary. Alone, it tells you little. The current docket entry carries far more weight than any flag or search snippet. The related court order does too.
- Arraignment Pending
- An arraignment-related event is marked pending. It is not a conviction or a final case result.
- BOUND OVER
- A lower-court preliminary stage resulted in a transfer posture. Check the case history and order for what followed.
- Nolle Pros Pending
- A nolle prosequi workflow is pending. The word pending does not establish a completed dismissal.
- Capias, Plea, or Trial Pending
- A capias, plea-related, or trial-related event is marked pending. Read the current docket and order for its status.
- Probation, Probation Viol Pend, PRS Viol Pend
- Supervision workflow terms. They must not be described as convictions or factual findings without the official record.
- EXPUNGED or SEALED
- Access is restricted or the record has an expungement status. Do not try to recreate the underlying material from another source.
Justice/Municipal Court Appeal is another Circuit MEC flag. It marks an appeal route from the named lower court, not the outcome of that appeal.
Wilkinson Circuit Clerk Criminal Duties
The Circuit Clerk does more than run name searches. The office receives and files indictments, motions, papers, judgments, and executions in Circuit Court cases. When a docket entry must be checked against the filed paper, or a copy needs certification, the clerk is the practical contact. The office also handles process, juries, marriage licenses, and elections. A criminal-record request works best when it names the Circuit Court case, the docket or document wanted, and the form of copy needed.
Stages on a Criminal Docket
Criminal cases rarely move in a straight line. A Wilkinson County case can start with a Justice Court accusation or a preliminary felony step, reach Circuit Court by bind-over or indictment where applicable, and then get settings for arraignment, motions, a plea, or trial. The docket records those court events over time. A continuance, a new filing, or an appeal can change the order.
Docket flow: Filing › Arraignment › Pretrial › Plea or Trial › Disposition › Sentencing
Disposition, sentencing, supervision, and appeal are separate questions. Dismissal, acquittal, nolle prosequi, probation, expungement, and sealed status each carry their own meaning. Confirm exact wording with the Circuit Clerk before treating a criminal docket as current.
Wilkinson Criminal Docket Court Routes
Court routing explains many empty searches. Circuit Court is the general criminal trial court and the main jury-trial route. Justice Court handles the misdemeanors within its authority. It also takes traffic outside municipal boundaries. Preliminary felony proceedings fall there as well. Municipal courts keep city ordinance, city misdemeanor, and city traffic matters within their own jurisdiction.
| Court route | Criminal docket role | Practical starting point |
|---|---|---|
| Wilkinson Circuit Court | General criminal trial cases, jury route, and qualifying lower-court appeals | Circuit Clerk or Sixth Circuit MEC/PAMEC |
| Justice Court | Preliminary felony matters, limited criminal matters, and nonmunicipal traffic | Justice Clerk, with the Eastern or Western district identified |
| Municipal Court | City ordinances, city misdemeanors, and city traffic | The issuing city's municipal court |
The state directory shows no County Court route for Wilkinson County. Youth Court matters carry special confidentiality rules, so treat them as something apart from ordinary public criminal dockets.
Wilkinson Criminal Docket Legacy Files
How far back the electronic record goes depends on when a case was filed. Which older Wilkinson Circuit files were scanned? Which were migrated, and which still sit in paper or another legacy format? No official inventory spells that out. So a empty remote result means nothing. It calls for a records check, not a conclusion that the case never existed.
Contact the Circuit Clerk about an older matter directly. Give the court, the year, and the case number if you have it, plus the document you want. Ask where the record actually lives: MEC, a scanned image collection, a paper file, or an archive. Then ask how you can inspect it or get a copy.
Which Court Holds Criminal Dockets
Circuit Court is the key trial-court docket for a general criminal case in Wilkinson County. The Circuit Clerk is the local records contact. The Sixth Circuit District also serves Adams, Amite, and Franklin Counties. That matters. A district-level system result should be checked carefully before assuming it belongs to Wilkinson County. A Circuit entry can also be an appeal from Justice Court or Municipal Court. The originating lower-court docket may hold its own separate record.
Justice Court splits into Eastern and Western districts. Any request there should name the correct district. It should also include the citation or case number when known. Municipal cases stay with the city; they do not move to the county courthouse automatically. Sorting out these layers keeps a docket search from landing on the wrong clerk.
Wilkinson Criminal Docket Digital History
The official Sixth Circuit CourtInfo record reports March 31, 2025. That is the day Wilkinson Circuit Court began MEC CM/ECF 4.0. That date sets a boundary. It marks the shift to the current electronic system from earlier local record practices. Treat it as a guide for search expectations, though. It is not proof that every document is open to remote viewing.
The CourtInfo page is the official system reference for the local Circuit Court configuration.
This MEC start date explains a split you may notice in practice. A recent Wilkinson criminal docket can leave a fuller electronic trail than a case filed before the local Circuit implementation.
Public Access and Sealed Criminal Dockets
Criminal dockets are often public court information. Access is not uniform, though. MEC remote access reaches only non-restricted records for PAMEC subscribers. A sealed or expunged status bars access. Youth matters are not an ordinary public search category. Medical records, protected addresses, minors' information, grand-jury material, and other confidential items can also be restricted or redacted.
The Mississippi Public Records Act governs county administrative records. But judicial records answer to court rules and confidentiality limits too. When you ask for a court file, name the court, the case number, and the document. Say whether you want inspection, a plain copy, or certification. If access is denied, ask the clerk which rule, order, or exemption controls the record.
Key rules:
Miss. Code § 25-61-5 provides a written-request and response framework for public bodies, including a written basis when more time is needed.
Miss. Code § 25-61-7 allows actual-cost charges for searching, reviewing, duplicating, and mailing records.
PAMEC judicial access guidance notes that court-record access can be governed by judicial rules rather than the Act's executive-branch framework.
Wilkinson Criminal Docket Clerk Route
The Circuit Clerk receives Circuit Court indictments, motions, papers, judgments, and executions. A focused request works best. Identify Wilkinson County, the Circuit Court, a case number if known, an approximate year, and the document sought. Say whether you need a plain or certified copy. Confirm copy and certification amounts before asking for a broad file.

For 2026, the Sixth Circuit term calendar lists Wilkinson terms this way: first Monday in February for four weeks, second Monday in April for one week, third Monday in June for three weeks, and first Monday in October for four weeks. Carmen Brooks Drake appears in those Wilkinson term listings. Remember what a term is not. A term block is not a specific hearing setting. Confirm any case date with the clerk. For a setting, disposition, restriction, or appeal status in a Wilkinson criminal docket, a current order or clerk confirmation is the reliable source.
